We’re seeking an Assistant Counsel,based in our Denver, Colorado Office. Reporting to the Vice President and Associate General Counsel, you will provide global legal support to the Digital, Strategy and Innovation business units of The Western Union Company.
The primary responsibilities of this role include: supporting senior lawyers on the team who advise on regulatory requirements related to money transfer, counseling stakeholders on risks associated with global digital expansion and with strategic initiatives, and providing legal support with respect to corporate commercial matters.

Review, draft and negotiate agreements with Western Union moneytransfer prospects and vendors in coordination with responsible senior lawyers,business leaders and other internal stakeholders.
Provide legal assistance to senior lawyers in the department.
Provide legal advice to business partners within the company andcoordinates with outside counsel.
Research and analyze the law on basic to moderately complexissues.
Assist senior lawyers in the development of organizationalpolicies.
Participate on internal consumer protection committees
Stay current and advise senior lawyers on changes to theregulatory and competitive environments globally.
What you will need to succeed:
This is an entry-level position with minimal legal experiencerequired. Preference given to candidateswho have experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
Strong, proactive and effective skills in issue spotting, problemsolving, negotiating and analytical skills.
Willingness to question the status quo and advocate for necessarychange to improve internal processes and how the company contracts withbusiness partners and customers.
Ability to work independently, provide practical, timely, solution-orienteddecisions and advice.
Work on multiple projects and demonstrate strong self-motivation.
Effective and persuasive oral and written communication skillstailored for the client.
Financial services or other regulated industry experience andproduct development experience preferred.
Experience working with international companies and negotiating indiverse cultures preferred.
Holds Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited school of law(or equivalent from another country), admitted to at least one U.S. state bar.
