We’re seeking a Lead Analyst, Risk Modeling & Statistics, based in our Englewood, Colorado office (global headquarters) .In this role, you willsupport the development of various risk models throughout Global Compliance and engage with risk model stakeholders to resolve issues and acquire appropriate data. This position will also support the ongoing enhancement of risk models and requisite data within the Risk Modeling & Statistics group. These models target AML/Fraud risk associated with Western Union’s Agents, consumers, corridors, products, and geographies.

The position will play a lead role while retaining a strong business understanding by asking the right questions of the stakeholders, and transforming that into informed action
Leads the development of documentation, model requirements, and program defense to minimize potential money laundering risk within the established strategies of the Department
Manage ad-hoc data reporting that supports the Compliance Systems & Analytics group
Develop, test, and execute various risk model factors, modeling schema, and model processes in order to support the broader risk modeling program
What you will need to succeed:
Strong experience working RDBMS architectures such as SQL, DB2, MySQL or other relational databases and relational database programming
Real world experience performing data mining and statistical modeling (using R or Python) is required
Strong data management skills with experience working with large data sets (>100 M rows)
Experience with analytical processing, with emphasis on development and performance testing
Desire to constantly learn and evolve technical skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, prioritization, decision making and conflict resolution skills
Must possess well developed interpersonal skills and be able to function well within in a team-oriented environment
Demonstrated experience delivering well documented data requirements, translating business requirements into technical requirements
Strict attention to detail and keen ability to coordinate with other business areas to effectively deploy modeling initiatives
Prefer experience in compliance including knowledge and understanding of anti-money laundering acts, laws and regulations as well as anti-money laundering issues and trends
What will make you stand out:
Masters preferred, bachelor’s degree required in quantitative filed (e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Finance)
Experience with the Hadoop ecosystem is a plus
Quantitative analytical background required with experience in applied statistics, data mining, or computer science preferred
