We’re seeking a Sr. Officer, Compliance, based in our Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico . In this role, you will ensure local compliance to all applicable AML/CTF regulatory requirements. Also, you will maintain continuous communication with Western Union’s Delegate Agents (i.e. Elektra, Bancoppel and so on), internal FIU and FRM to process findings related to unusual activity.

  • Provide AML Compliance support to agents of Western Union and its affiliates to build programs that are in compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and other anti-money laundering laws as they apply to Money Services Businesses

  • Support agents' efforts to comply with company policies and procedures as they relate to anti-money laundering

  • Evaluate internal controls and anti-money laundering compliance programs for agents through transaction analyses, compliance reviews and training sessions

  • Responsible for follow up with agents concerning review findings

  • Will be assigned program reviews that are more complex in nature and non-routine including referrals from agent risk management, requiring more advanced analysis, reasoning and judgment skills

  • Translate documents English-Spanish and vice versa

  • Organize and process information

  • Analyze transactions to find trends, patterns and unusual activity related to AML Conduct investigations related to AML findings

  • Document cases in internal systems and follow up until solution

  • Elaborate reports based on internal information

  • Present investigation results to management

  • Attend meetings to present information

  • Maintain continuous communication with Western Union’s Delegate Agents and internal teams

  • Training of new team members

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree on Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related

  • Good communication skills both English and Spanish

  • Very good English written skills – B2+ minimum (76%)

  • Focused in documentation and processing information

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are a must

  • Ability to work within deadline

  • Ability to liaise with parties from different cultural backgrounds

  • Investigation and analysis skills

  • Ability to look into details

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and plan activities

  • 3 yrs. exp in Finance

  • 5 yrs. exp logistics /Internal control

What will make you stand out (nice to have):

  • Master’s degree Mexican Compliance Officer certification are a plus

  • Previous experience in Money transmitters is a plus
