We are seeking a Senior Application Architect, with significant functional and technical experience in application architecture to be hands on in designing our next gen platforms. This architect must have deep functional expertise with significant technology focus and be able to effectively communicate across application architects, development directors & leads, influencing strategy, and guiding the design and development of functional, technical architecture for WU next gen solutions. Responsible for designing andinfluencing adoption of highly scalable, high available cloud basedmicroservices architecture
Responsible for assisting indevelopment of application architecture roadmap and ongoing maintenance ofenterprise architecture blueprint for WU and WU's applicationtransformation program
Define and document EAcapability maps, technical standards, architecture & design patterns,industry best practices and act as keeper and evangelizer for repositoryof reusable artifacts to be utilized across the enterprise
Ensures adherence toestablished standards and may consult with senior technology leaders on technologysolutions.
Supports existing businesssystems applications and may be responsible for leading technical aspectsof a project.
Engage with application leadersand coordinate with other architects to quickly gain understanding ofcurrent state, document business and application inter-dependencies, flushout details regarding end state vision and develop multi-year transitionroadmap
Create contextual andconceptual models to document complex business process andcapabilities
Create, manage and use IT/Technology architecture models
Define and develop servicesreference model for a high volume and scale eco-system and evangelize itacross various units and audiences within WU to ensure adoption
Participates and present /coordinates Architecture Review Board for review, development andmaintenance of EA function
Provide comprehensive analysison opportunities, risks, tradeoff associated with transformation includingcosts, impact and value and ensures these are properly estimated andcontrolled across WU' people, process and technology boundaries.
Collaborate with vendors andrepresent Western Union at industry forums, enables a culture ofcontinuous learning and identifies opportunities to incorporate bestpractices or relevant emerging trends into Western Union's skillsrepository
Strong communication andinfluential skills and able to persuasively present view point based ontier of audience
What you will need to succeed:
Typically, 10+ years withinInformation Technology with a concentration on Application Architecture
Application design andimplementation and SAAS experience
Demonstrated experience inHighly scalable applications
Experience with cloud computingarchitecture
Demonstrated ability to designsecurity infrastructure, applications, networks, systems and equipmentthat impact multiple environments across all of IT
Experience in multiple largeprojects in influencing the definition, selection, and implementation oftools, technologies, and processes
Demonstrated experience in EAfunction or relevant experience including producing architecture, designdocuments to effectively hand over to development teams for successfulimplementation
Experience in high volume, highvelocity engineering application systems required. Should have in-depthknowledge of application, application constructs, data architectures andimplementations
Demonstrated ability toidentify, POC, influence adoption of innovative technologies intomainstream
Amazon, Azure Cloud Architect,SalesForce Architect certifications preferred4-year bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or IT related course of studypreferred
Togaf or equivalent enterprisearchitecture certification and EA tool experience preferred
