Right now, we are seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer , based at Western Union’s Digital headquarters in San Francisco, California. As a Senior Java Software Engineer, you will be responsible for implementation of a service delivery model supporting assigned platforms through a predefined frame-work. This includes the Western Union payment pricing engine, operation support, and transaction settlement processing.

Develop and implement new software, maintain and improve existing software
Ensure that software functionality is implemented with a with a focus on code optimization and organization
Recommend improvements to existing software programs
Troubleshoot application issues and coordinate issue resolution with operations, functional, and technical teams
Work with a software development team and Service providers in a geographically distributed structure
Provide coaching to Associates and Junior Associates
Works independently on complex projects
What you will need to succeed:
B.E. / B.Tech. / MCA in Computer Science, Engineering or related field is preferred
9+ to 12 years of software development experience
Must be a problem solver with demonstrated experience in solving difficult technology challenges, with a can-do attitude
Knowledge of architecture design concepts, object oriented design and techniques
Knowledge of logical and physical database architectures and operating systems
Financial transaction systems experience
Rock solid foundation in core Java /J2EE skills
Extensive experience in designing and developing REST and SOAP APIs
Experience with developing APIs that are public and serving multiple high traffic website and/or apps
Experience developing web applications (Spring, RESTful, Jersey, RestEasy,JAX-WS, Web Services)
Strong in designing/developing applications using Spring and Hibernate Frameworks
Experience with Integration/Orchestration (Apache Camel, Jboss Fuse or ActiveMQ) or any other ESB & Caching would be plus
Experience in implementing SSO (Single Sign On)
Experience with NOSQL database highly desired
Experience with rules engines (Drools, JRules) is a plus
Experience generating API documentation
Experience developing dynamic and flexible web applications for high traffic and transaction volumes
Experience with using latest engineering tools (eg. Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, Git/Perforce)
Experienced working with vendors, managers, and users in the development of robust technical solutions based upon business requirements and objectives
Experienced software development disciplines-including business modeling, requirements management, component-based development, data engineering, configuration and change management, and testing-into a consistent framework covering the full lifecycle
Experience in Agile and Iterative development methodologies
Strong communication skills with ability to interact with partners globally
Excellent time-management and task-management skills
